Description/Background:
During the regular 2021 Legislative Session, the state passed several amendments relating to the Land Use Development Management Act (LUDMA). One of those amendments, known as HB 82, requires cities to allow for internal accessory dwelling units (I-ADUs). There are certain things that are mandated by the state and others that will require policy decisions to determine how this can be implemented in the city.
Staff has prepared an attachment that help illustrate the topic and has additional information.
Further action to be taken:
Staff will prepare a proposed ordinance change to the affected sections of code based state code and the policy direction given to Staff.

That the City Council direct staff to prepare a code amendment to implement the state required changes regarding internal accessory dwelling units (I-ADUs).
