Description/Background:
Sandy City is a member of an interlocal entity known as the Trans Jordan Landfill under an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with seven member cities including Draper City, Midvale City, Murray City, Riverton City, South Jordan City, and West Jordan City. The amendment presented tonight would add Herriman City as a member to the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement.
The entity is governed by a board of representatives of the seven member-cities. In 2024, the City Council appointed Ryan Kump, Public Works Director, to the Trans Jordan Landfill Board. However, Sandy City is allowed a second board member, and Ryan Kump is proposing Martin Jensen, Sandy City Deputy CAO, be appointed to fill that roll.
Further action to be taken:
The representative from Trans Jordan Landfill and the Public Works Department will be presenting two amendments for Council consideration. One approving the addition of Herriman to the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement, and the other consenting to the appointment of Martin Jensen as the Trans Jordan Landfill Board. This item is informational only, and will need to be scheduled to be brought back for final Council consideration at a later date. This evening Trans Jordan and Public Works are looking for council questions and feedback.
