This is the 2nd reading of the attached resolution.
The Council first discussed ranked choice voting (RCV) on October 13, 2020. Following the Utah Legislatures amendments to the Municipal Alternate Voting Methods Pilot Project (pilot) during the 2021 legislative session, the Council again discussed RCV on April 13, 2021. During this meeting they reviewed a first draft of a resolution that would notify both the Lt. Governor and the Salt Lake County Clerk of the City's intention to participate in the pilot. Should the Council adopt the attached resolution on April 20th, the 2021 Sandy Municipal Election will be held as a RCV election in accordance with pilot.
Further action to be taken:
Staff will need to submit the signed resolution to the Lt. Governor and Salt Lake County Clerk prior to May 10, 2021.
