Description/Background:City Council will interview applicants for the vacant Metro Board seat and appoint an applicant.

The Sandy City Council has an upcoming vacant appointment to the Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake and Sandy Board of Trustees.  Utah Code Annotated 17B-1-304 outlines the process by which Appointees to the Board of Trustees for a local district must be filled. Staff has followed the process outlined in code, and is bringing forward all qualified applicants to the Council for review at this time.

 

Further action to be taken:

An appointment to this Board will begin on January 1, 2023 and last for a term of four years.

 

Two individuals submitted applications for the vacancy and have been found to meet the minimum requirements established by state law and described in the notice of vacancy.  The two people being considered this evening by the Council are: John S. Kirkham and J. Daniel Schoenfeld. The Council has been provided the materials submitted by the applicants in their application packages.

 

The Council may interview qualified applicants if it so desires.  The Council must take public comment on this item.

The Council shall select one of the two individuals before them this evening and adopt resolution 22-54C appointing that person as their representative on the Board.
