Public Hearing on the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Compensation for Executive Municipal Officers

Description/Background:
Beginning in FY24-25 it became a statutory requirement to hold a separate public hearing to receive comment on the compensation increase for executive municipal officers. It may be helpful to understand a few terms under this new law:
“Compensation” means: salary, a budgeted bonus or budgeted incentive pay, a vehicle allowance, and deferred salary.
“Compensation increase” means an increase in any item just noted above.
"Executive municipal officer" means the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Assistant CAO, the City Attorney, an individual who is the head or chief of a city department or division, or an individual who is the chief assistant or deputy of a department or division head.
Further action to be taken:
There is no action required by the City Council other than to hold this separate public hearing prior to adopting the final budget.
