Description/Background:
At present, the Land Development Code prohibits the construction of detached structures in a side yard that are larger than 240 sq. ft. This prohibition has a tendency to cause unecessary problems for the owners of corner lots. The proposed amendment will allow the construction of detached structures in a side yard, so long as the structure still meets the minimum setbacks of the primary dwelling.
Further action to be taken:
If this proposal is approved by the Council, staff will need to notice a public hearing and bring the item for adoption at a later date.
