City Council interviewing Ryan Kump to serve as the Sandy City Public Works Director

Body

Description/Background:

Mayor Zoltanski is proposing, for Council Advice and Consent, Ryan Kump to serve as the Sandy City Director of Public Works.

On December 12, 2017 the City Council approved a process when considering its advice and consent for mayoral appointments.  The process included a background check, a current resume, a formal interview, and a possible closed session as permitted by state law to consider the character, competency, physical, or mental health of an individual.  Tonight the Council will hold the formal interview. The City Council Office recommends the Council take the time it deems appropriate to interview the candidate.

Further action to be taken:

During a future business session, following tonight's interview, the council may adopt the attached resolution providing its advice and consent for the candidate to serve as the Public Works Director. Tonight, the Council may choose to close the meeting in order to discuss the character, competency, physical or mental health of an individual.

Recommendation

The City Council Office recommends the City Council conduct a detailed interview with the proposed candidate. However, any discussion of the candidates character and/or competency should take place during a closed session.
