Description/Background:
The current policy on the Election of Council Officers mandates that the Vice Chair is automatically the Council's liaison to the Planning Commission. It is proposed to separate the Vice Chair position from the Planning Commission assignment. Instead, the Planning Commission liaison will be assigned by the Council at regular six-month intervals along with other Council committee assignments as has been done prior to the current Election of Council Officers policy. This amendment still allows the Vice Chair to serve as the Planning Commission liaison if he or she is interested and the Council consents, but does not force the Vice Chair to accept the dual responsibility. In this way, the proposed amendment may provide the Council more flexibility.
