Agenda Item Title:

Title

Second Reading: Council Member Houseman proposing a General Obligation Bond to rebuild Fire Station 31

Body

Presenter:

Marci Houseman, Council At-large

Body

Description/Background:

Through previous discussions of the Council, it's become apparent that Fire Station 31is nearing the end of its useful life.  The City has purchased property to rebuild the station, but we still need a way to fund the rebuild.  It's in everyone's best interest to determine a funding mechanism as early as possible so that the City has adequate time to appropriately inform Sandy residents of the process surrounding rebuilding Fire Station 31.

During a first reading on November 8, 2022, Council Member Houseman presented a proposal to the council to use a General Obligation Bond to fund the rebuild of Fire Station 31. After gathering feedback during that presentation, she has brought back an unchanged resolution for council consideration and possible adoption.

Further action to be taken:

Following adoption of the attached resolution the City can begin taking the necessary steps to formalize a general obligation bond for consideration of the electorate during the next general election.

Recommended Action and/or Suggested Motion:

Recommendation

I motion that we adopt Resolution 22-57C.
