Description/Background:

Mayor Zoltanski is proposing, for Council Advice and Consent, the appointment of Ben Hill to serve as the Sandy City Parks and Recreation Director. On December 12, 2017 the City Council approved a process when considering its advice and consent for new mayoral appointments. The process included a background check, a current resume, a formal interview, and a possible closed session, as permitted by state law, to consider the character, competency, physical, or mental health of an individual.

A background check has been completed and the City Council has been provided with those results as well as the candidates resume.

This evening the City Council Office recommends that the Council conduct a detailed interview of Mr. Hill.

Further action to be taken:

Tonight, the Council may choose to close the meeting in order to discuss the character, competency, physical or mental health of an individual. The Council will consider providing its formal consent to the candidate during a future meeting of the city council.

Recommended Action and/or Suggested Motion:

Recommendation

Any discussion of the Candidates character and/or competency should take place during a closed session. The Council may provide its consent, by resolution, at a future city council meeting.
