Agenda Item Title:

Title

Second Reading: Council Member Robinson proposing that the Council and Mayor jointly create a new special committee called the "Alta Canyon Advisory Committee"

Body

Presenter:
Council Member Robinson

Body

Description/Background:

As of January 1, 2022 the governing authority of the Alta Canyon Administrative Control Board will be revoked and returned to the City Council.  However, the institutional knowledge that exists within the current members of that Board as well as residents of the district and members of the Center could still be utilized.  For that reason, Council Member Robinson, is proposing the creation of a special committee that would help provide both the Council and Mayor with, as needed, administrative and legislative advice as related to the Alta Canyon Sports Center.

Fiscal Impact:

None.

Further action to be taken:

1. Once the committee has been created the council should amend the Policy and Procedural Guide for the Appointment of Citizens, Staff, and Elected Officials to Serve on Special Committees to include the Alta Canyon Advisory Committee.  This will occur at a future meeting.

2. Appointment of staff liaison by the Mayor and Council liaison by the Council following the creation of the committee

3. Appointment of Committee Members at a future date

4. Creation of committee bylaws once the committee membership has been established.

Recommended Action and/or Suggested Motion:

Recommendation

Motion to adopt Joint Resolution 21-51C and to immediately send the resolution to the Mayor for his consideration and decision no later than December 31, 2021.
