Title

Public Works Department recommending that the Council Authorize the Execution of an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with South Jordan City for Asphalt Resurfacing

Presenter:

Britney Ward, Asst. Public Works Director

Body

Description/Background:

South Jordan City is resurfacing a portion of 10000 South west of I-15 (between 450 W and FrontRunner) as a pavement maintenance project.  The south half of the road is owned by South Jordan and the north half is owned by Sandy.  South Jordan has offered to complete the Sandy half in conjunction with the South Jordan half, which is common for neighboring jurisdictions to do for purposes of keeping road maintenance costs down.  In order to do this a signed agreement is required.  Signing of the agreement must be first authorized by the Council. Attached, for the Council's consideration, is a Resolution authorizing execution and the agreement.

Due to upcoming cancelled council meetings interfering with the project timeline, Council Chair D'Sousa is recommending that the Council consider approval of the attached resolution during this meeting, as opposed to requiring an informational presentation followed by adoption of the Resolution.  If the Council is comfortable with this recommendation, it may consider adoption this evening.  If the Council is not comfortable with this recommendation, it may table the resolution to be considered at the August 26, 2025 meeting.  However, it should be noted that tabling may interfere with our ability to participate in the project.

Fiscal Impact:

The expected fiscal impact can be reviewed in Section 2 of the attached Interlocal Agreement.  The Sandy portion of the project is expected to be $28,478.20 and will be paid for using existing capital funds for street reconstruction.
