Description/Background:

Staff has received interest from two residents to serve on the CDBG Citizen's Committee (see the attached resumes). The Committee is currently comprised of 8 residents (see the attached roster). Half of the members have been appointed by the Mayor, the other half by the City Council. This is slightly out of balance by the standards set forth in ordinance #06-10, which establishes a ratio of 3 mayoral appointments to 6 council appointments. The charter of the CDBG Committee (as amended) requires at least 5 members but no more than 9. As such any new appointments would be set by the City Council. At this time, staff is not recommending an increase to the number of committee members, nor recommending removal of any current committee members. This item is being raised based on the unsolicited interest received from these residents.

Option #1 - Invite one or both of these interested citizens to be interviewed by the City Council to consider adding them to the CDBG Citizen's Committee.

Option #2 - Postpone a decision on any new appointments until the City Council reviews Special Committee appointments in March, 2017.
